From a Local Dream to Global Recognition: The Visual Teacher's Journey
Intro
Alhamdulillah, today, our hearts are full of gratitude. We received an email from the QS Reimagine Education Awards 2025 committee, announcing that our project, Certified Visual Teachers Training Program, has been recognized with a Certificate of Recognition for its creativity, innovation, and contribution toward advancing teaching and learning worldwide.
Yes, we didn’t win the main prize, and there’s a small part of us that felt a bit disappointed. But more than that, we are filled with gratitude. To be acknowledged among global innovators from top universities, organizations, and education pioneers is itself a tremendous honor.
This recognition affirms something profound: our Malaysian-born Visual Teachers Program matters, not just for us, but potentially for classrooms around the world.
A Story of Faith and Persistence
When we first launched the Visual Teachers Program, many wondered:
“Can drawing really make a difference in teaching?”
We believed it could.
One teacher in Johor once shared after the training, “Saya tak pernah yakin melakar di papan putih. Tapi selepas kursus ini, saya mula melakar dan murid saya lebih faham dari sebelum ini.”
That simple reflection reminded us why we started, to help teachers visualize lessons, simplify complex ideas, and make learning alive again.
From that small pilot, the program has now trained over 2,000 teachers from Johor, Kelantan, Selangor, Perak, and Terengganu. Each session brought stories of renewed confidence, creativity, and joy in teaching, proof that teachers are not just instructors, but creators of understanding.
At the heart of this movement is our collaboration with Dr. Ruzaimi Mat Rani, the founder of Drawzania and the visionary behind the Visualization Through Freehand (VTF) concept, the very backbone of the Visual Teachers Program. Together, we’ve blended VTF with AI-supported techniques to help teachers communicate more effectively in their classrooms.
Quran & Hadith Reflections
Allah reminds us in Surah Al-Insyirah (94:5–6):
“Indeed, with hardship comes ease.”
This journey wasn’t easy; there were long nights, limited funds, and moments when it felt impossible to keep going. But with every hardship, Allah opened another door, from national partnerships to this international recognition.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“The most beloved of deeds to Allah are those that are most consistent, even if small.” (Sahih Bukhari & Muslim)
That’s exactly what this project has been — small, consistent steps taken with sincerity. Teacher by teacher, classroom by classroom, we’re witnessing transformation take root in ways that inspire us every day.
Lessons and Hopes Moving Forward
This recognition by QS is not just about us. It’s about Malaysian educators showing that innovation can be homegrown. It’s about proving that creativity and faith can coexist beautifully, that a marker and a whiteboard, guided by purpose, can change lives.
We now hope to expand this program nationwide, with the support of ministries, foundations, and corporate partners. Imagine 10,000 teachers empowered to visualize their lessons, reaching hundreds of thousands of students. Imagine every classroom filled with clarity, creativity, and confidence.
We believe the Visual Teachers Program could be the catalyst that redefines how teaching happens in Malaysia, preparing a new generation of teachers who can think visually, communicate effectively, and inspire deeply.
Call to Action
To all educators, parents, and partners reading this, your support can make this vision grow. Together, we can reimagine how teaching and learning happen across our schools.
📩 Let’s collaborate to bring the Visual Teachers Program to more classrooms nationwide.
