How to Answer the ‘Tell Me About Yourself’ Interview Question by Lee E Miller

The following is a great article for those going out for job interviews. Enjoy!

How to Answer the ‘Tell Me About Yourself’ Interview Question

Don’t be afraid of this question; instead use it as an opportunity to position yourself for success.

Great article by By Lee E. Miller
When I was a human resources executive doing hiring interviews, I almost always began my interviews with candidates by requesting, “Tell me about yourself.” I did that for a number of reasons, the most important of which was to see how the candidates handled themselves in an unstructured situation.
I wanted to see how articulate they were, how confident they were and generally what type of impression they would make on the people with whom they came into contact on the job.
I also wanted to get a sense of what they thought was important.
Most candidates find this question to be a particularly difficult one to answer. That is a misplaced view. This question offers an opportunity to describe yourself positively and focus the interview on your strengths. Be prepared to deal with it. These days, it’s unavoidable. Like me, most interviewers start off their interviews with this question. A lot of interviewers open with it as an icebreaker or because they're still getting organized, but they all use it to get a sense of whom you are.
The Wrong Response
There are many ways to respond to this question correctly and just one wrong way: by asking, “What do you want to know?” That tells me you have not prepared properly for the interview and are likely to be equally unprepared on the job. You need to develop a good answer to this question, practice it and be able to deliver it with poise and confidence.
The Right Response
To help you prepare, I spoke to a number of career coaches on how best to respond when faced with this question. Heed the career advice that follows to ace this opener:
The consensus of the coaches with whom I spoke:
  • Focus on what most interests the interviewer
  • Highlight your most important accomplishments
Focus on What Interests the Interviewer
According to Jane Cranston, a career coach from New York, “The biggest mistake people being interviewed make is thinking the interviewer really wants to know about them as a person.
They start saying things like, 'Well, I was born in Hoboken, and when I was three we moved …’ Wrong. The interviewer wants to know that you can do the job, that you fit into the team, what you have accomplished in your prior positions and how can you help the organization.”
Nancy Fox, of Fox Coaching Associates, agrees. She notes that “many candidates, unprepared for the question, skewer themselves by rambling, recapping their life story, delving into ancient work history or personal matters.” She recommends starting with your most recent employment and explaining why you are well qualified for the position. According to Fox, the key to all successful interviewing is to match your qualifications to what the interviewer is looking for. “In other words, you want to be selling what the buyer is buying.”
Think of your response as a movie preview, says Melanie Szlucha, a coach with Red Inc. “The movie preview always relates to the movie you're about to see. You never see a movie preview for an animated flick when you're there to see a slasher movie. So the ‘tell me about yourself” answer needs to directly fit the concerns of your prospective employer.”
Previews are also short but show clips of the movie that people would want to see more of later. They provide enough information about the movie so that you could ask intelligent questions about what the movie is about. Hiring managers don't want to look unprepared by reading your resume in front of you, so Szlucha advises that you “provide them some topics to ask you more questions about.”
Highlight Your Most Important Accomplishments
Greg Maka, managing director at 24/7 Marketing, advises job seekers to "tell a memorable story about your attributes.” For example, if you tell an interviewer that people describe you as tenacious, provide a brief story that shows how you have been tenacious in achieving your goals. “Stories are powerful and are what people remember most,” he said.
One great example is that of Fran Capo, a comedienne who bills herself as “the world’s fastest-talking female.” She offers the following advice: “Whenever I go on auditions or interviews, I have a "set" opening I use. ... I tell the interviewer what I do in one sentence and then say, ‘And I also happen to be the Guinness Book of World Records’ fastest-talking female.’ Then I elaborate.” According to Capo, the main thing in anything you do is to be memorable, in a good way. Your goal when you answer the ‘tell me about yourself’ question is to find a way stand out from everyone else.

Maureen Anderson, host of "The Career Clinic" radio show, stresses the importance of keeping your answer short: “The employer wants to know a little bit about you to begin with — not your life story. Just offer up two or three things that are interesting — and useful. You should take about a minute to answer this question.”
And, Be Brief
To make sure it is succinct and covers what you want it to cover, she suggests that you “write your answer out before the interview, practice it, time it and rehearse it until it sounds natural. Then practice it some more. The goal is to tell the employer enough to pique their interest, not so much that they wonder if they’d ever be able to shut you up during a coffee break at the office.”
Rather than dread this question, a well-prepared candidate should welcome this inquiry. Properly answered, this question puts the candidate in the driver's seat. It gives her an opportunity to sell herself. It allows her to set the tone and direction for the rest of the interview, setting her up to answer the questions she most wants to answer.

Why are profits important to businesses in the private sector?

Profits is important for all businesses regardless in private or public sector. This is because business by nature is about providing a solution or a product that can solve a problem for a profit. That is the very reason of doing business.

I have been doing business for the past 8 years and believe me you need to ensure that your business is generating profit at some point in time. If not than chances are you are just doing charity work.

Anyways if you want more, go to my blog at http://amiruliskandar.blogspot.com or get a copy of my ebook on business at http://www.passion2income.com

What is habit and how does it get established?

According to wikipedia, habits are routines of behavior that are repeated regularly and tend to occur subconsciously, without one's directly thinking consciously about them.

Normally a habit is established from doing something on a regular basis and repeating the action regularly. People say that you just need to repeat doing something for 21 days and it will automatically become a habit.

For example, let's say you don't like to shower in the morning. You start doing it for a few weeks it becomes a habit. No matter where you are you won't shower in the morning or you will feel uncomfortable to do so.

Another example would be, if you love to talk on your cell phone while you're driving. At first you might feel it is wrong but as you start to pick up your phone and talk every single time you are driving it becomes a habit. Eventually you will do it without giving it a second thought.

Hence a habit is something that you need to be mindful of. It is not just limited to your actions but also to how you think. This is very critical as if you do not form the right thinking habits you will never be successful. You are what you think.

For example, without realizing it you might be someone with the habit of thinking negative things about everything. Sometimes you don't realize it but you are doing it all the time because to you it is the way you see things. Hence you need to change. One way to change a habit or your thinking habit is to create goals that you can change. I would recommend an attitude goal card with a simple goal that you can push yourself. It does not have to be complicated. It could be as simple as stating on the card, "I am a positive person!". Put the card in your wallet and every time you read the card you are creating new habits. Try it out for the next 21 days, I can GUARANTEE YOU that it can change your life!

Is Your Resume Too Short?

You must first understand what is a resume. A resume is a document which is prepared for you to market yourself for employment by sharing your skiils and expertice. A resume is a concise 1 page document which consist of 6 segments. If your resume is more than 1 page than it is a CV!

The 6 segments that you need to have in your resume is as follows;
1. Career Objective

How is merchandising relevant to an entrepreneur?

How is merchandising relevant to an entrepreneur?

In order to answer this I need to first define what is an entrepreneur. By definition an entrepreneur is someone who solves a problem or provide a solution for a profit. The key word here is profit.

Based on numerous research for an entrepreneur there are only 3 ways that you can increase your profit. You can argue all you want but there are only 3 ways you can do it. The 3 ways are:

1. Increase the number of clients that the entrepreneur has.
2. Increase the frequency that the clients spend with the entrepreneur.
3. Increase the amount that the clients spend with the entrepreneur.

If you look at the 3 ways listed above hence merchandising is definitely relevant to an entrepreneur. Through the proper and right merchandising campaign, an entrepreneur can effectively promote it's brand and increase it's number of clients resulting in more profit.

A wide range of merchandise can be used to encourage higher frequency of purchase from the same clients resulting also in more profits. And finally merchandise is a fantastic way for you to do up selling, cross selling and back end selling so that the entrepreneur can increase the amount a client will spend. This will definitely help to boost profit.

One of the best example would have to be McDonalds with their Happy Meals. They really milk is such that they produce merchandise with every possible hit movies or cartoons.

In short, YES! Merchandising is very mich relevant to an entrepreneur.

Perkara Sebelum Tidur( Tafsir Haqqi )

2 Tips on DRIVING IN RAIN...This May SaveYour Life..Read to the very end!

Good information, especially with the raining season around. And, don't forget to pass it onto ALL your dear ones and friends,......far and near, including non-driver(s) to remind the driver(s).

SAFE-DRIVING TIPS WHEN IT IS RAINING!

1. GOOD VISION IN A DOWNPOUR

How to achieve good vision while driving during a heavy downpour.

We are not sure why it is so effective; just try this method when it rains heavily.

This method was told by a Police friend who had experienced and confirmed it.

It is useful...even driving at night.

Most of the motorists would turn on HIGH or FASTEST SPEED

of the wipers during heavy downpour, yet the visibility in front of the windshield is still bad......

In the event you face such a situation, just put on your SUN GLASSES (any model will do), and miracle!

All of a sudden, your visibility in front of your windshield is perfectly clear, as if there is no rain.

Make sure you always have a pair of SUN GLASSES in your car.

You are not only helping yourself to drive safely with good vision, but also might save your friend's life by giving him this idea..

Try it yourself and share it with your friends!???

Amazing, you still see the drops on the windshield, but not the sheet of rain falling.?

You can see where the rain bounces off the road. It works to eliminate the "blindness" from passing cars. Or the "kickup" if you are following a car in the rain.

They ought to teach this little tip in driver's training.. It really does work.

This is a good warning. I wonder how many people knew about this.

Another good tip:

2. DO NOT USE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN IT IS RAINING
A 36 year old female had an accident several weeks ago. She was traveling between Gladewater & Kilgore. It was raining, though not excessively and her car suddenly began to hydro-plane and literally flew through the air. She was not seriously injured but very stunned at the sudden occurrence! When she explained to the highway patrolman what had happened.

He told her something that every driver should know - NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON . She thought she was being cautious by setting the cruise control and maintaining a safe consistent speed in the rain..

But the highway patrolman told her that if the cruise control is on, your car will begin to hydro-plane when the tires lose contact with the pavement, and your car will accelerate to a higher rate of speed making you take off like an airplane. She told the patrolman that was exactly what

had occurred. The patrolman said this warning should be listed, on the

driver's seat sun-visor - NEVER USETHE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE PAVEMENT IS WET OR ICY , along with the airbag warning. We tell our teenagers to set the cruise control and drive a safe speed - but we don't tell them to use the cruise control only when the pavement is dry.

The only person the accident victim found, who knew this (besides the patrolman), was a man who had a similar accident, totaled his car and sustained severe injuries.

NOTE: Some vehicles (like the Toyota Sienna Limited XLE) will not allow you to set the cruise control when the windshield wipers are on. Even if you send this to 15 people and only one of them doesn't know about this, its still worthy. You might have saved a life.

PS - By the way if you are prone to panic attacks and such, here is a site you might want to check out. More than 54,000 people have managed to resolve their panic attack or general anxiety problem. Just go to Panic Away -End Anxiety and Panic Attacks at http://tinyurl.com/29j2nd9

My Own Experience ~ 2 Steps to Making Money Online

It has been only a couple of days since attending the Global Internet Seminar or GIS 2010. I have already started to implement one of the strategies suggested by the internet Guru's.

The first method is the 2 steps that I shared earlier whereby the first step is to find a question and the second part it to find a solution and recommend it to the people asking the question. So far I have already found and answered 3 questions. I'm just going to share what I did so that it might help you out. Maybe you can do better than what I did.

Step 1 - Find questions.

What  I did was I went to yahoo answers, ask ville.com and also wiki answers. For me wiki answers was the most suitable. I than started to browse through all the categories. I have to admit that it wasn't easy to find the category that is suitable for me. I tried the health category and half way through reading all the questions I just couldn't take it anymore. I didn't realize how graphic and how detailed the questions were posted online. I just couldn't take it anymore. I went through a couple of other categories and it was than I realized that I had better stick to what I am passionate about. I also realized that in answering questions you have to go with the mind set of helping people based on your knowledge and experience.

I found a couple of questions the first night and I also answered a question earlier this morning. Basically the questions were related to personal development and communication skills which I am very passionate about. Heck, these are skills that me and my wife teach to undergraduates. After answering the questions, what I did was I went to clickbank.com and sourced out products which I feel are relevant and could be of use to the person asking the question. I put a link with my answer. So far I don't see any results yet but I am happy that I could share a bit of my knowledge and who knows it might help someone out there.

You can check out my answers at my facebook profile. Just go to http://www.facebook.com/amiruliskandar

I hope that my experience above can help you get started. I am definitely going to keep on answering questions. The objective is to help people and I believe if we focus on that the rewards will come sooner or later. :)

2 Steps to Making Money Online

What a great weekend. Attended the Global Internet Summit or GIS 2010 in KL.

This is my second time attending this event. We learned a lot of new things and most importantly new techniques. The internet is moving at such a fast pace and it has really changed the way we all do business. The market is so huge and it is growing each second! Today there are 1.9 billion people online and it's only about 30% of the world's population. We need to get a piece of the pie.

On the first day, Vince Tan shared with us 2 easy steps to make money. I think the steps are pretty easy but as always it's easier said than done. Nonetheless it is a good way to start. Here are the steps;

Step 1 - Find questions
There are a lot of people out there asking questions for their problems. It could be on health, financial, relationship, technical and etc. Basically they have problems that need to be solved. Hence what they require are answers!

So where do you look for people with questions? You can go to the following

  1. yahoo answers
  2. askville.com

Find a category that you are comfortable with and start looking for questions that you would like to help people solve. Normally the hot topics are health, technical and self help.

Step 2 - Provide the answers
Now you go to clickbank or paydotcom.com to get suitable products; ie ebooks that can help people with their problems. Share with the people and recommend the sites that you found which you think could help with their problems.

Anyways, I have tried to do it and It's not that easy. It requires time and effort but I know that once you get the hang of it you are going to make money online! Give a shot.

Personally I feel that for internet marketing the main thing that we need to have is TRAFFIC and the best way to do it is if you can have a software or other people do it for you. Here is one way you can generate a lot of traffic: http://preview.tinyurl.com/2fn5lb8

I will be posting other ways to make money online based on what we have learned at GIS2010.

Honey - the best food for the heart
Honey is one of the best gift from nature to us.
Honey is saturated with glucose and fructose.
These sugar are in pre-digested forms and hence are readily assimilated in the blood stream.
There is no energy producing food in the market to equal honey.

If you wish for an instantaneous energy, one that can be felt in about ten minutes, take a spoonful of honey.
The glycogen passes rapidly into your blood stream and has the same effects as a meal.
There are sixteen types of sugar present in honey, but two are predominant, fructose and dextrose.
This is one reason why honey acts so quickly to produce energy, for fructose
and dextrose are described as pre-digested, and when taken into the body go to work straight away.
A glass of water with two teaspoons of honey at night induces sound sleep and brings clear motion on the next morning.
The same drink taken on an empty stomach in the morning works as an appetizer.

Honey is a mild antiseptic.
Its regular use strengthens both body and mind.
It is recommended in cases of arterio-sclercsis and weak hearts. Heart is a muscle and, like all our muscles, is stimulated by honey which provides the energy needed by its tired muscles. Honey builds bodily resistance to coughs, colds and many other ailments.

REMEMBER: WHATEVER HAPPENS, HAPPENS FOR A REASON

1.Read Each One Carefully & Think About It a Second or Two

2. No man or woman is worth your tears, & the one who is, won't make you cry.

3. Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

4. A
true friend is someone who reaches for your hand & touches your heart.

5. The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can' t have them

6. Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.

7. To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

8. Don't waste your time on someone, who isn't willing to waste their time on you.

9. Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.

10. Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened.

11. There's always going to be people that hurt you so what you have to do is keep on trusting & just be more careful about who you trust next time around...

12. Make yourself a better person & know who you are before you try & know someone else & expect them to know you.

13. Don't try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to.

REMEMBER: WHATEVER HAPPENS, HAPPENS FOR A REASON.

CANCER KILLER DISCOVERED Guyabano, The Soupsop Fruit (Salifa)

The Sour Sop or the fruit from the graviola tree is a miraculous natural cancer cell killer 10,000 times stronger than Chemo. Why are we not aware of this? Its because some big corporation want to make back their money spent on years of research by trying to make a synthetic version of it for sale. So, since you know it now you can help a friend in need by letting him know or just drink some sour sop juice yourself as prevention from time to time. The taste is not bad after all. It’s completely natural and definitely has no side effects. If you have the space, plant one in your garden. The other parts of the tree are also useful. The next time you have a fruit juice, ask for a sour sop.

How many people died in vain while this billion-dollar drug maker concealed the secret of the miraculous Graviola tree? Th is tree is low and is called graviola in Brazil , guanabana in Spanish and has the uninspiring name "soursop" in English. The fruit is very large and the subacid sweet white pulp is eaten out of hand or, more commonly, used to make fruit drinks, sherbets and such.

If there ever was a single example that makes it dramatically clear why the existence of Health Sciences Institute is so vital to Americans like you, it's the incredible story behind the Graviola tree. The truth is stunningly simple: Deep within the Amazon Rainforest grows a tree that could literally revolutionize what you, your doctor, and the rest of the world thinks about cancer treatment and chances of survival. The future has never looked more promising.Research shows that with extracts from this miraculous tree it now may be possible to:

* Attack cancer safely and effectively with an all-natural therapy that does not cause extreme nausea, weight loss and hair loss

* Protect your immune system and avoid deadly infections

* Feel stronger and healthier throughout the course of the treatment

* Boost your energy and improve your outlook on life

* The tree compounds proved to be up to 10,000 times stronger in slowing the growth of cancer cells than Adriamycin, a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug! * What's more, unlike chemotherapy, the compound extracted from the Graviola tree selectively hunts down and kills only cancer cells. It does not harm healthy cells! The amazing anti-cancer properties of the Graviola tree have been extensively researched-- so why haven't you heard anything about it? If Graviola extract is as half as promising as it appears to be-- why doesn't every single oncologist at every major hospital insist on using it on all his or her patients? The spine-chilling answer illustrates just how easily our health-- and for many, our very lives(!)--are controlled by money and power. Graviola--the plant that worked too well

The principal interest in this plant is because of its strong anti-cancer effects. Although it is effective for a number of medical conditions, it is its anti tumor effect that is of most interest. This plant is a proven cancer remedy for cancers of all types.Besides being a cancer remedy, graviola is a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent for both bacterial and fungal infections, is effective against internal parasites and worms, lowers high blood pressure and is used for depression, stress and nervous disorders.

The source o f this information is just as stunning: It comes from one of America 's largest drug manufacturers, the fruit of over 20 laboratory tests conducted since the 1970's! What those tests revealed was nothing short of mind numbing... Extracts from the tree were shown to:* Effectively target and kill malignant cells in 12 types of cancer, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreatic cancer.. One of America 's biggest billion-dollar drug makers began a search for a cancer cure and their research centered on Graviola, a legendary healing tree from the Amazon Rainforest.

Variou s parts of the Graviola tree--including the bark, leaves, roots, fruit and fruit-seeds- -have been used for centuries by medicine men and native Indians in South America to treat heart disease, asthma, liver problems and arthritis.

Going on very little documented scientific evidence, the company poured money and resources into testing the tree's anti-cancerous properties-- and were shocked by the results. Graviola proved itself to be a cancer-killing dynamo. But that's where the Graviola story nearly ended.

The company had one huge problem with the Graviola tree--it's completely natural, and so, under federal law, not patentable. There's no way to make serious profits from it. It turns out the drug company invested nearly seven years trying to synthesize two of the Graviola tree's most powerful anti-cancer ingredients. If they could isolate and produce man-made clones of what makes the Graviola so potent, they'd be able to patent it and make their money back. Alas, they hit a brick wall. The original simply could not be replicated. There was no way the company could protect its profits--or even make back the millions it poured into research.

Why Are They So Super?

Ask five nutritionists to rate the 12 most powerful foods and you'll get five different lists, but many of the selections will overlap. Why? Because every food provides something different: Some are a rich source of protein or fiber but void of many vitamins and minerals, while others contain disease-fighting phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals, but no protein. The trick, claim experts, is to get a variety of the best foods. The following 12 power foods are a good place to start.

Avocados

Sure they're high in fat, but avocados contain healthful monounsaturated fat, which has been linked to a reduced risk of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. "Avocados aid in blood and tissue regeneration, stabilize blood sugar, and are excellent for heart disorders," says Ed Bauman, Ph.D., director of Bauman College . They're loaded with fiber (11 to 17 grams per fruit) and are a good source of lutein, an antioxidant linked to eye and skin health.

Apples

"An apple a day really does keep the doctor away," says Jonny Bowden, Ph.D., C.N.S., author of The 150 Healthiest Foods on Earth. Apples are loaded with the powerful antioxidants quercetin and catechin, which protect cells from damage - that means a reduced risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease, especially if you eat the skin. Research shows that the apple peel contains five times more polyphenols than the flesh. Apples and their skins pack a lot of fiber too (about twice that of other common fruits, including peaches, grapes, and grapefruit), which may help fight the battle of the bulge.

Blueberries

Antiaging superstars, blueberries are loaded with antioxidants, especially anthocyanins, which have been shown to improve vision and brain function. Studies show that eating blueberries slows impairments in motor coordination and memory that accompany aging. These little berries also reduce inflammation, which is inextricably linked with virtually every chronic disease from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, to diabetes and heart disease. Other studies show that blueberries have much greater anticancer activity than other fruits.

Cabbage

In the vegetable world, the Brassica genus reigns supreme, and the cabbage is the most impressive of the lot. Brassica vegetables (including broccoli, bok choy) contain compounds called indoles, which have been shown to reduce the risk of cancer dramatically. "Eating cabbage more than once a week cut men's colon cancer odds by 66 percent," says Bauman. "Cabbage also stimulates the immune system, kills bacteria and viruses, and is a good blood purifier." If you go for the red variety, you'll also get a healthy dose of anthocyanins (the same pigment molecules that make blueberries blue), another powerful antioxidant with an anticancer punch.

Fish and Fish Oil

Eating fish helps cut the risk of heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's, stroke, diabetes, and arthritis. The fatty varieties may also help alleviate depression. The American Heart Association recommends that adults eat at least two fish meals per week, especially wild salmon, herring, and sardines, because those varieties provide the most heart-healthy omega 3s. Avoid mercury-containing varieties like shark, swordfish, king mackerel, tilefish, and albacore tuna, says Roberta Anding, M.S., R.D., national spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. (Chunk light tuna is okay.)

Garlic

Research shows that garlic lowers total cholesterol and triglyceride (blood fat) levels, helping prevent clogged arteries. "Two to three cloves a day cut the odds of subsequent heart attacks in half for heart disease patients," says Bauman. "Garlic also tops the National Cancer Institute's list of potential cancer-preventive foods." Whole baked garlic helps detoxify the body of heavy metals like mercury (from fish) and cadmium. Garlic also acts as an antibacterial and antiviral, boosting resistance to stress-induced colds and infections. Can't stand garlic breath? Chew on a sprig of parsley.

Mushrooms

Used for centuries in Eastern medicine, mushrooms have powerful effects on the immune system - especially the maitake, shiitake, and reishi varieties. "Mushrooms such as maitake help prevent and treat cancer, viral diseases, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure," says Bauman. In fact, mushrooms are used as an adjunctive cancer treatment throughout Asia because of their ability to counteract the toxic effects of chemotherapy and radiation while simultaneously shrinking tumors. What's more, Japanese researchers have found that regularly eating shiitake mushrooms lowers blood cholesterol levels up to 45 percent.

Almonds

Almonds are loaded with fiber and monounsaturated fat, both of which have been shown to lower cholesterol. According to the Food and Drug Administration, eating 1.5 ounces of most nuts, including almonds, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease. And even though almonds are relatively high in fat and calories, studies show that eating almonds can actually help with weight loss (their protein, fiber, and monounsaturated fats provide the feeling of fullness, preventing overeating).

Eggs

The best protein source on the planet, eggs consistently outrank milk, beef, whey, and soy in the quality of protein they provide. In addition to containing all nine essential amino acids, eggs are loaded with nutrients. "And for God's sake, eat the yolks," says Bowden. People avoid the yolks because they fear cholesterol, but egg yolks contain choline, which helps protect heart and brain function and prevents cholesterol and fat from accumulating in the liver.

Flaxseeds

Loaded with alpha-linolenic acid, an essential fatty acid that helps reduce inflammation, flaxseed has been used for centuries for medicinal and health reasons. Gandhi himself proclaimed, "Wherever flaxseed becomes a regular food item among the people, there will be better health." Bauman adds, "The seed itself has terrific nutritional value, very usable protein, tremendous fatty acids, and minerals like magnesium, potassium, and zinc." Additionally, they're a great source of fiber.

Pomegranates

Pomegranates have up to three times the antioxidants of red wine and green tea - and the juice has been shown to reduce artery-clogging plaque, which in turn prevents heart disease and stroke. Research shows that long-term consumption of pomegranate juice may also help slow aging and protect against cancer.

Dark Chocolate

When it comes to chocolate, bitter is better - at least in terms of health. The benefits of chocolate come from flavonols and antioxidants (the same disease-fighting chemicals found in cranberries, apples, strawberries, and red wine). The caveat: Only real cacao contains flavonols, so look for chocolate that boasts a high percentage of cacao (60 percent or more). Dark chocolate also has fewer calories than other varieties, and when eaten in moderation, it lowers unhealthy LDL cholesterol and prevents plaque from building up in your arteries.
