From Generative AI to Agentic AI: Why the Next AI Skill Is Thinking, Not Prompting

From Generative AI to Agentic AI: Why the Next AI Skill Is Thinking, Not Prompting

Most people today say,

“I’m using AI.”

But when you look closer, what they really mean is:
They are asking questions and getting answers.

That’s not wrong.
But it’s no longer enough.

Let me explain—simply.

Generative AI: The First Wave (Where Most People Are)

Generative AI is what most of us started with.

You ask → it answers.
You stop → it stops.

It’s powerful for:

  • writing

  • summarising

  • brainstorming

  • creating content

But it is still reactive.

Think of it like a very smart assistant who only speaks when spoken to.

Useful? Yes.
Transformational? Not yet.

Agentic AI: The Real Shift Happening Now

Agentic AI changes the relationship.

Instead of only answering, it can:

  • plan steps

  • decide what comes next

  • check its own work

  • continue working toward a goal

You don’t just ask:

“Write this.”

You say:

“Help me achieve this outcome.”

And the AI figures out how.

This is the difference between:

  • using a tool

  • and working with a helper

Most people haven’t crossed this line yet.

But There’s a Bigger Gap People Still Miss

Even with agentic AI, there’s a critical question:

Whose thinking is the AI following?

Because an AI that can act…
but thinks like everyone else
will still give average results.

This is where my work focuses.

DNA-Cloned AI: Teaching AI to Think Like You

I don’t just teach people to use AI.

I teach them to clone their thinking into AI.

That means embedding:

  • values

  • priorities

  • decision filters

  • communication style

  • ethical boundaries

  • leadership principles

So the AI doesn’t just act.

It acts the way you would act.

For leaders, educators, and professionals, this is the turning point.

AI stops being:

  • a productivity hack

And becomes:

  • a thinking partner

  • a decision co-pilot

  • a consistency engine

Why This Matters (Especially for Leaders & Educators)

The future will not be divided between:

  • people who use AI
    vs

  • people who don’t

It will be divided between:

  • people who borrow intelligence

  • and people who design intelligence responsibly

Prompting is a skill.
Context engineering is a capability.
DNA-driven agentic AI is leadership.

My Position (Clear & Simple)

  • Level 1: Prompting helps you move faster

  • Level 2: Agentic AI helps you move smarter

  • Level 3: DNA-cloned AI helps you move wisely and consistently

This is the direction I’m building, teaching, and refining—
with educators, organisations, and leaders who care about impact, not hype.

Final Thought

AI will increasingly act.

The real question is:

What values will guide those actions?

That’s no longer a technical question.
It’s a leadership one.

And that’s where the real work begins.
